Soma Studio was born out of the need to carry out our own professional projects on the audiovisual means and live shows/performances

We develop designs of characters and characterizations adapted to the actors. We use very innovative materials and techniques on the special effects make-up background to obtain more realistic results. Among our characterizations, we can provide facial and body modifications –as wounds– esthetic transformations, ageing effects, fantasy, etc. We also make ballistic tricks , transfers, partial and complete prosthesis, as well as the necessary props for the complete character characterization.

We have divided our services in two different branches Soma FX and Soma Creations so we adjust to the production's need on a more specific and selective way.

Soma Studio in full development and consolidation comes in the hands of Laura G. Loaisa, a passionate young and enterprising professional wishful to keep on learning and growing on the professional field.

We count on the help of several collaborators, such as special makeup effects artists , designers hairpieces, airbrush, art and costume technicians, 3D-modelling specialists, mate painting and other kind of postproduction technicians, who collaborate with us to solve the most specific demands. This wide team allows us front our projects with dynamism and coordination, which help us get a better resolution in timings, quotations, finishes or even just to be able to create a completely finished fantasy character.

Laura García Loaisa

Laura García Loaisa was born in Talavera de la Reina, where she started her scene studies on several theatre groups and her first incursions on the audiovisual field. Due to her increasing interest in cinematography, after finishing high school she moves to Madrid to study Audiovisual Studies at University.

On her first years at college she discovered the different professional profiles in cinema, which led her to specialize as a make up artist and special effect technician. After assisting to many courses on professional make up, she graduated as make up artist on the Cinema and Audiovisual Studies School of Madrid (ECAM, Escuela de Cine y Audiovisuales de la Comunidad de Madrid)

During this period of time, she concurrently works on several projects in cinema, advertising, photography and videoclips. Then, she continues her studies at the Performance Technology Centre of Madrid (CTE, Centro de Tecnología del Espectáculo de Madrid).

Once graduated on these schools, she combines the learning on drawing, sculpture, hairpieces and special effects fields with her professional activity and specific courses with international professionals on the sector. Also, she has been working as a teacher on make up courses and monographics on the last five years.

Right now she keeps on learning at different complementary and specific courses to self improve her career. She keeps on working as make-up and special effects technician for several producers.

At Soma Estudio we attend any petition for productions or performances which require a special effects Service.

Soma Estudio is aimed to all kinds of productions which might require professional make-up and hair dressing

We provide from the most classic make-up to characterization of fantasy characters, body painting or make-up for fashion and antique purposes.

We fully create the characters, offering solutions and designs not only on make-up but also for hairpieces, hair dressing, styling and atrezzo. We make researching and documentations process on each step of our work to get to the best creative and adequate results.
